The Life of a Bold Follower of Jesus

What does it mean to be a bold follower of Jesus?

How to become a bold follower of Jesus

A bold follower of Jesus is one who knows Jesus as their Lord and Savior. They are believers in Him and in who He is. They understand what He has done for them and what He wants for them and for the world (John 3:16-17).

A bold follower of Jesus knows what it means to love Jesus and what it means to be loved by Him. The primary purpose of their life is to love Jesus with all of their heart, all of their soul, all of their strength, and all of their mind. (Ephesians 3:17-19; Matthew 22:36-39)

A bold follower of Jesus knows how to spend time with Him. They are comfortable being with Him. They enjoy being with Him and look forward to being with Him. (Mark 1:35; Luke 6:12)

A bold follower spends time alone with Jesus

A bold follower of Jesus knows how important it is that they spend time with Jesus. They know it is in this time, alone with God, that He changes them into bold, courageous followers of Jesus. (Acts 4:13)

A bold follower of Jesus knows He is always with them. They know what it means to pray without ceasing and they maintain a near-constant conversation with God throughout the day. (Deuteronomy 31:6; Matthew 28:20; 1 Thessalonians 5:17)

They don’t want to just bring Jesus “along for the ride,” to just include Him in all of the activities and “busyness” of their lives. This isn’t enough for them. (Psalm 63:1-4)

They wake up ready to begin their day with Jesus, thinking about when they will be together, alone, just the two of them, and they look forward to that time. They can’t wait for it to arrive! (Psalm 42:1)

At the end of the day, a bold follower thanks Him for that day – for the privilege of being with Him, for the joys they experienced, and for the difficulties with which He entrusted them. (Psalm 4:8)

A bold follower knows that as a follower of Jesus, suffering is to be expected and is not to be feared. Rather, it is an opportunity to participate in the sufferings of Jesus for the world (Matthew 5:11-12; Colossians 1:24).
